This Next Generation 2 x D Outdoor Battery Eliminator Kit includes 1 x Next-Generation D Outdoor Active Dummy Cell Battery and 1 x Next-Generation D Passive Dummy Cell Battery. The Thin Flat Flexible Cable (FFC cable) coming out of the Next Generation D Outdoor Active Dummy Cell Battery can be run around the side of most battery compartment covers that have waterproof gaskets, so the original level of waterproofness can still be maintained! Also, the connector at the end of the FFC cable is a waterproof 5.5mm x 2.1mm male barrel plug with M12-1.75 screw threads. This connector will mate with our outdoor power extension cables and outdoor power splitter cables keeping your connections protected! This connector will also mate with regular indoor 5.5mm x 2.1mm male barrel plugs, but the connection won’t be waterproof, so outdoor electrical tape or adhesive-lined heat-shrink tubing can be used to protect this connection. This new and improved Next-Generation 2 x D Battery Eliminator Kit has single-component D Active and D Passive Dummy Cell Batteries that more closely resemble actual D batteries in construction and terminal conductive surfaces. This new single-component design eliminates the need for 2-component Dummy Cell Batteries constructed of AA Dummy Cell Batteries inserted into AA to D converter shells which were used in the original first-generation Outdoor 2 x D Battery Eliminator Kits. This new single-component design eliminates the AA Dummy Cell Batteries falling out of the AA to D converter shells, and the small and unreliable contact surface areas! No more worrying about the positive terminals of the AA Dummy Cell Batteries making good contact with the internal positive terminals of the AA to D converter shells. No more wondering if the positive and negative terminals are making good contact with the terminals in the battery compartment! These new features mean less hassle, more reliable terminal connections, and an overall superior solution!

The Next-Generation D Dummy Cell Batteries included in this kit are the same size as regular D batteries, so they easily fit into the outdoor electronic device's battery compartment spaces. It doesn't matter which space they go into as long as you observe the correct polarities just as you would when inserting real batteries. The thin flat flexible cable (FFC cable) coming out of the Next-Generation D Outdoor Active Dummy Cell Battery can easily be run around the side of most battery compartment covers that have waterproof gaskets, so the original battery compartment cover and gasket can still be used while maintaining a waterproof seal!

NOTES:

· The Next-Generation D Outdoor Active Dummy Cell Battery and Next-Generation D Passive Dummy Cell Battery are not real batteries and will not power an electronic device on its own. They need to be used in conjunction with an appropriate AC to DC power adapter or solar panel as discussed above and depicted in the diagrams.

· This kit does not contain a power source, so that will need to be purchased separately. We offer 3.3VDC output voltage rechargeable solar panels that can be used as the power source and has the appropriate waterproof connector that will mate with the waterproof connector on the Next-Generation D Outdoor Active Dummy Cell Battery. We also offer indoor and outdoor AC to DC power adapters. Our indoor AC to DC wall power adapters can be used as the power source provided the adapter isn’t exposed to the outdoor elements such as water, rain, dirt, etc. Also, the connection between the indoor AC to DC wall power adapter’s 5.1mm x 2.1mm male barrel plug and the Next-Generation D Outdoor Active Dummy Cell Battery’s female barrel socket will need to be made waterproof by using outdoor electrical tape or adhesive-lined heat-shrink tubing.

· Please make sure the mating connector used with the Next-Generation Outdoor D Active Dummy Cell Battery has M12-1.75 screw threads. M12 specifies the diameter of the threads as 12mm (refer to illustrations), and 1.75 specifies the pitch of the screw threads as 1.75mm and is the distance between threads in mm (refer to illustrations). If the mating connector does not have the same thread diameter and the same thread pitch, then the screw nut on the mating connector will not work, and the rubber O-ring on the mating connector will not be properly compressed which is necessary to create a weatherproof seal. The connector on this cable will mate with regular (non-weatherproof) 5.5mm x 2.1mm DC barrel connectors (male plugs), but the connection will not be weatherproof (water and dirt).

· Since each regular D battery supplies 1.5VDC, 2 x D batteries will supply 3VDC. Power sources that supply 3VDC or 3.3VDC are adequate for powering electronic devices that use 2 x D batteries. The output current rating of the power source should be selected such that it is appropriate for the outdoor electronic device being powered. Most devices that use 2D batteries can be powered using a power source capable of supplying an output current of 1-Amp, but some devices may require 2-Amps or as much as 3-Amps.

WARNING(S): Do not attempt to charge the Next-Generation D Dummy Cell Batteries with a battery charger. Doing so may damage the battery charger.
